Fuel price leaves KI ferry high and dry
KANGAROO Island Ferries has cancelled services until October because
low winter demand will not cover a 50 per cent rise in its fuel costs.
The company normally runs its 52m Seaway vessel carrying up to
250 passengers and 30 cars between Wirrina on the mainland coast,
south of Adelaide, and Kangaroo Island's main town of Kingscote twice a day each way.
However, lower demand in winter and increased fuel prices have forced the
company to stop operating from now until the October long weekend.
